  • Brief info about Vinted

Our mission is to make second-hand the first choice, and we're looking for people who want to help us get there. Every day, we work together to help our members buy and sell pre-loved clothing and lifestyle items, giving each piece a second life – or even a third.
The Vinted Group is made up of three business units that support this mission:

Vinted Marketplace is Europe’s leading platform for second-hand fashion and a go-to destination for all kinds of pre-loved items, with a growing range of categories. Our platform connects millions of members across 20+ markets, helping great items find a new life.

Vinted Go enhances the shipping experience with a vast network of over 500,000 pick-up and drop-off points, partnering with more than 60 carriers across Europe, with added services like item verification for peace of mind on high-value pieces.

Vinted Pay is the newest part of the Vinted Group, dedicated to bringing secure, reliable payments to buyers and sellers across Europe. Seamlessly integrated into the Vinted app, it helps keep every transaction safe, efficient, and easy for our members.

Founded in 2008 in Lithuania, Vinted began as a way for friends to find new homes for clothes they no longer needed. In 2019, we became Lithuania's first unicorn! Today, our headquarters remain in Vilnius, and we've grown with offices across Europe, supported by a team of over 2,000 people.

Missions and activities of the position

    1. Project phase – owner's engineer for Maintenance

    • Represent Maintenance in every phase of new equipment projects (starting with the MRS1 cross-belt sorter), from design reviews to FAT, SAT, commissioning and ramp-up. For the sorter, whose design is already set, take over the installed system and optimise it after go-live.
    • Work side by side with the OEM / integrator engineers: collect technical knowledge, challenge design choices, maintainability, access, spare-part strategy and the proposed maintenance plan before they are frozen.
    • Define and verify the Maintenance acceptance criteria (documentation, training, spare parts, safety, availability targets). The Maintenance sign-off is mandatory: no handover to operations without it.
    • Track and drive to closure the technical punch list and warranty issues raised during commissioning and the warranty period.

    2. Technical file & spare parts

    • Build and own the equipment technical file: as-built electrical and mechanical drawings, PLC and software versions, parameter backups, network architecture, safety documentation, OEM manuals.
    • Create the asset hierarchy and criticality analysis in the CMMS.
    • Define the critical spare-parts list (references, min/max stock, lead times) and keep it up to date.
    • Reduce dependency on the OEM: identify and qualify second-source suppliers for critical parts, run compatibility tests and document equivalences.
    • Propose spare-parts and supplier decisions to the Maintenance Manager; after an initial period, take these decisions autonomously within agreed limits, with the Maintenance Manager's validation.

    3. Maintenance strategy & procedures

    • Write and maintain preventive maintenance plans, corrective procedures and troubleshooting guides for the equipment family, based on OEM data, FMEA and field experience.
    • Monitor equipment performance (availability, MTBF, MTTR, top failure modes), lead root-cause analysis on recurring or major failures and implement permanent corrective actions.
    • Challenge the original design when needed and drive engineering changes: retrofits, drive and firmware updates, software or parameter optimisation, with the OEM and internal stakeholders.

    4. Training & technical support

    • Train the operational maintenance team (technicians and operatives) on the equipment, its software/HMI and the troubleshooting procedures; validate their autonomy level.
    • Act as the level-2 / level-3 technical expert for the equipment family on site and remotely, across sites.

    5. Escalation, vendor & SLA management

    • Own technical escalations through to resolution: with the Tetris team (Vinted's internal tools and sorting logic) when the issue is on the software or data side, and with OEM / integrator support (SAV) when it is on the equipment side.
    • Lead the diagnosis that tells which side an issue comes from (equipment, controls, Vinted software), with facts and data.
    • Work within the after-sales and maintenance agreements already in place with OEMs: make the most of them day to day, monitor performance against SLAs and warranty terms, feed lessons learned into future renewals, and provide the technical evidence to the program managers, who own the contractual relationship.
    • Prepare and lead technical review meetings with OEMs and integrators.

    6. Safety & compliance

    • Ensure the equipment and its maintenance comply with machine safety requirements (CE marking, safety functions, lock-out/tag-out) and site H&S standards.
    • Support safety audits and regulatory inspections, and drive the resulting corrective actions to completion.

    Occasional responsibilities

    • Take ownership of additional equipment families (e.g. conveyors, AMR fleets, Monk lines) once the cross-belt is stable.
    • Support pre-project technical due diligence on new equipment (specifications, vendor benchmarks, maintainability review).
    • Participate in the hiring and onboarding of maintenance technicians and future engineers.

Interests, constraints, difficulties of the position

    • High-visibility role on new strategic automation investments.
    • Site-based in an operational warehouse, with regular presence on the shop floor.
    • Regular travel to MRS1, OEM premises (FAT) and other Vinted Go sites, especially during commissioning.
    • Day-based role, no on-call. Flexibility needed during commissioning, ramp-up and major incidents (possible early, late or weekend work).
    • Needs to influence without authority: OEMs, integrators, IT and program management teams.

    Your profile

    Knowledge & experience

    • Engineering degree (Master's / Bac+5) in automation, electrical, mechatronics or industrial engineering, or Bac+2/3 with equivalent proven experience.
    • At least 3 years' experience, ideally 5 or more, as Equipment Engineer, Automation Engineer, Tool Owner or Maintenance/Reliability Engineer in a highly automated environment: parcel sortation and intralogistics, airport baggage handling, logistics or other automated industries.
    • Automation background required.
    • Proven involvement in at least one industrial equipment project from FAT/SAT to ramp-up, working with OEMs or integrators.

    Technical skills

    • Able to read and diagnose complete PLC and HMI programs (Siemens TIA Portal and/or Rockwell, Beckhoff) and to make controlled modifications; industrial networks (Profinet, Profibus, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP).
    • Drives (parameters, firmware), servo motors, sensors, scanners / DWS, pneumatics; reading electrical and mechanical schematics.
    • Retrofit experience and component qualification (equivalence, compatibility testing)
    • Safety PLCs and machine safety functions.
    • Understanding of the interfaces between equipment controls, SCADA/WCS and IT systems.
    • Reliability methods: FMEA, RCA (5 Why, Ishikawa, 8D), criticality analysis; CMMS and PM planning.
    • Sortation equipment experience (cross-belt, tilt-tray, shoe sorters) is a strong plus.
    • French electrical certification (habilitation électrique BR / B2V / BC) or ability to obtain it.
    • Fluent French and professional English (OEMs and the Vinted Go network work in English).

    Behavioural skills

    • Strong ownership: treats the equipment as their own, from design to end of life.
    • Able to challenge OEM and integrator engineers constructively, with facts and data.
    • Structured and disciplined in documentation.
    • Good teacher: enjoys transferring knowledge to technicians.
    • Calm and solution-oriented under production pressure; strong safety mindset.

Please note: the main tasks and skills identified and noted in the function described above may need to evolve depending on the constraints and organisation specific to the company and its environment. They are, therefore, indicative and not contractual.
